5 Activities You Must Do in Jaipur
Go sight-seeing
Founded in 1727 by the ruler of Amer, Jai Singh II, Jaipur is home to numerous forts and palaces. Each monument not only portrays excellent craftsmanship but also narrates stories and legends of a different era.
The Hawa Mahal, literally meaning the Air Palace is one of the landmark buildings of Jaipur. This red and pink sandstone structure with 953 small windows adorned with intricate latticework looks lovely against the hues of the morning and evening sky. The architecture, somewhat reminiscent of a beehive, was constructed to allow the royal women to see the outside world without being seen.
Following a similar naming convention, the Jal Mahal or the Water Palace is another unique piece of architecture. Designed in the classic Rajput manner, it stands in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake with four floors submerged in the water underneath the one visible to us. It was built as a duck hunting lodge for Maharaja Madho Singh I.

Another marvelous monument is the Amer Fort. Built with red sandstone and marble, the opulent palace has four levels namely the Diwan-e-Aam or Hall of Public Audience, the Diwan-e-Khas or Hall of Private Audience, the Sheesh Mahal or Mirror Palace, and the Sukh Niwas where winds blowing over a waterfall inside the palace artificially produce a cool climate. To add to the spectacle, a light and sound show is organized in the evenings. The places in Jaipur are perfect for wedding Jaipur photography.

Owing to its rich culture and history, Jaipur also hosts several museums and art centers. The striking white building of the Albert Hall Museum contrasted against the grey of the hundreds of pigeons that line the street in front of it is a sight to remember. Jawahar Kala Kendra on the other hand gives you a chance to channel your creative energies. A hub of artists, dramatists, and musicians, it holds several performances and exhibitions showcasing its work.
Visit Chokhi Dhani for all things Rajasthani
The one place to get a comprehensive taste of the Rajasthani culture is the Chokhi Dhani village. From local artisans to performance artists, delicious food, and the rustic setting of a village in the heart of the city, an evening in Chokhi Dhani makes for a delightful one. It has something for everybody—women in ethnic attires performing the traditional dance form of Ghoomar, the puppeteer expertly pulling the strings of his dolls weaving an enchanting story, the magician making a parrot appear out of nowhere, bumpy rides on camelbacks, and a lot more. The food is an experience in itself. The traditional Rajasthani thali with its signature ‘daal baati chairman is a treat to the taste buds.
